Pubic Hair related injuries increase five-fold

Well….I think we need to add another chore to the daily list of all doctors:  They should consider counseling patients against nonelectric razor use in pubic hair grooming to help prevent injury.  Why you ask?  Well, over the last 8 years, the amount of emergency room visits have increased 5 times!  You would assume that razors and that area would be a common sense issue, but apparently not!  Some of the facts from the research published in Urology:

  • 11,704 estimated emergency room visits
  • 56.7% were women
  • Average patient age: 30.8
  • 83% were due to shaving razors
  • Most common injury: laceration (36.6%)
  • 97.3% were treated within the emergency department and discharged
