Medical Spa coverage for "blood facial" or "vampire facial".

There is a trend right now happening on the West Coast for medi-spas to offer what is being called a Blood Facial.  Essentially, a blood facial is a cosmetic procedure where a doctor draws a few vials of blood from your arm, puts it in a centrifuge to separate the plasma and platelets from the red blood cells, and then adds the platelet-rich plasma back into your face.  Kim Kardashian was one of the first people to have her picture taken after the procedure.

The reasoning behind doing this that you infuse your skin with platelets, which contain growth factors, which are known in the medical
world to be helpful in wound healing.  Does this procedure really work?  We don’t really have any information to know if it does or not.  Most dermatologists believe that there is little chance for harm b/c the patient is dealing with their own body fluids. The FDA does approve the adding of plasma to bone before orthopedic surgery, but not for dealing with the effects of aging.
