Chicago Magazine named its top Chicago doctors in the January edition — and the final list of physicians contained four with medical staff privileges at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center.

The four local physicians selected were Dr. Bryan Foy, cardiovascular surgery; Dr. Lucy Canaday, family practice; Dr. Aras Zlioba, ophthalmology; and Dr. Robert W. Schubert, internal medicine.

“We are very proud to have four physicians included on this prestigious list,” said Jeffrey Brickman, FACHE, system senior vice president and regional CEO for the Provena Southwest Suburban Region. “We strive each day to continue building a strong regional referral center for the southwest suburbs. With physicians like Dr. Foy, Dr. Schubert, Dr. Canaday and Dr. Zliobas caring for patients with the medical center, Will County residents can rest assured that high-quality health care services and technology is now closer to home than ever before.”

The list was prepared by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., whose team of researchers follows a rigorous screening process to select top doctors on both the national and regional levels. By using mail and telephone surveys, as well as electronic ballots, the team of researchers ask physicians and the medical leadership of leading local hospitals to identify the highly skilled and exceptional doctors. They then follow up with a very careful screening of each doctor’s educational and professional experience before finally selecting the physicians most highly regarded by their fellow physicians.

“This year, we’ve received several awards for the quality of care from HealthGrades,” said Dr. Lon McPherson, chief medical officer, vice president of Effectiveness and Quality. “Now, we’re privileged to add onto our awards and accreditations the achievement of four area physicians. It is through the dedication of physicians, including these four honorees, that we continue to bring extraordinary healthcare to the Will County community.”
