Federal Tort Reform? Medical Malpractice Reform on a National Stage?
side note: Republican lawmakers have been trying to establish tort reform at the Federal level for years now. However, what we typically hear from the GOP is their want to have the States control everything. The Time Herald author presents an argument that you can’t push for State’s rights, but then at the same time say that you want to take away from those States the right to govern over their own insurance. This is how all States work today, they each have their own Departments of Insurance. Do you think we should leave it to the States? Head towards Federal tort reform? Forty-six states have some type of tort reform laws now, including Georgia. None of these laws have led to any health care cost savings for any consumer. In fact, most health insurance premiums have increased, as have the cost of lab tests, X-rays, CAT scans and your visit to local pharmacies.
