Andrew Wesley CountrymanCountryman Law Firm
I have been practicing law in Charleston since 2005. From 2005 until May 2017, I worked in law firms, including nearly ten years at a firm with around 100 lawyers. While I primarily represented defendants (the party who gets sued), I also represented plaintiffs (the party who brings a lawsuit). During my time with firms, I handled many types of cases including those involving: legal malpractice, medical malpractice, architect/engineer malpractice, nursing home negligence, insurance agency negligence/insurance bad faith, construction defect litigation, mechanic’s liens, automobile accidents, personal injury, defamation, contract negotiation, breach of contract, Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (cases involving debt collection issues), mortgage foreclosures, and homeowners’ association law.
After gaining years of experience with firms and developing relationships with clients and in the legal community, I decided to start my own practice. I continue to handle professional liability defense cases (where I represent professionals like lawyers and insurance agents). However, being on my own also allows me the freedom to help people who have been injured and those who need assistance with things like starting a business and contract negotiations. I am also a certified Circuit Court Mediator by the South Carolina Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification. I truly enjoy the mediation process because it provides me a chance to help people resolve their legal issues without the uncertainty and stress of court.
If you have a question about a potential claim or legal issue, please don’t hesitate to contact me. There are some areas in which I don’t practice, including criminal law and real estate closings. However, I know some good lawyers who handle these types of cases, and I’d be happy to give you some names.
